Who We Are
About Denneen
Denneen & Company was founded on the principle that each company’s path to growth is unique and grounded in proprietary insights, synthesized from deep assessment of markets, competitors, customers, and a company’s capabilities and historic business performance. Our senior leaders apply their prior management experience in industry, along with consulting leadership built over decades.
Our team of consultants works collaboratively alongside clients, applying a generalist approach with industry perspective to chart a unique, achievable path to growth for each client, aligned with their purpose and ambition.
OUR CORE BELIEFS
Strategies are Built From Insights, Not Just Data
We believe that deep proprietary insight gained from a rigorous synthesis of internal and external research and analysis is the foundation from which to make strategic choices.
Guilding the Journey But Building Together
We believe in our agile strategy development process, but always recognize that the most successful strategic plans are developed collaboratively across the organization, and ultimately must be owned by the client.
Developing Achievable and Pragmatic Plans
We believe in setting realistic objectives, clearly understanding and quantifying what has to be true to reach them and building actionable plans to deliver.
Diverse Thinking Drives Better Outcomes
We believe that taking a generalist approach, ensuring diversity of thought, and challenging and pressure-testing each other's and clients' hypotheses and conclusions minimizes biases and yields the best results.
Putting Our Clients’ Best Interest First
We believe in telling clients what they need to hear, not what they want to hear, even if those conversations are difficult.
Denneen & Company is a growth strategy consulting firm founded on the belief that strategic growth leads to greatness.
In the early 1990s, Mark Denneen recognized an opportunity to apply his marketing and general management background from Procter & Gamble to consulting. While traditional consulting firms delivered extensive reports filled with research and analytics, often missing were pragmatic findings and practical approaches that only those who had held leadership positions within companies could help to identify.
Mark founded Denneen & Company and recruited a team of CPG leaders to help provide the kind of real, practical value that supports the most ambitious vision for what a company can achieve. In 1993, he began providing custom, strategic guidance that would become the foundation for Denneen & Company’s approach to growth strategy.

Scaling for the Future
Denneen focuses on culture, talent, and succession planning through the expansion of its Board of Directors with external members, and a partnership with Summit Advantage. The Boston headquarters relocates to 34 Farnsworth Street in the Seaport District. To support international growth, a new office is opened in Singapore’s HarbourFront, led by Michael Lim.
2010 - 2016
Expanding Services and Global Reach
KPS Capital Partners becomes the firm’s first private equity client in 2010, launching the M&A Advisory business. Key milestones include new client relationships with Pfizer, and Merck Consumer Healthcare (100th client).
Phil Ryan joins, driving M&A and growth strategy capabilities. Offices expand to Houston to support energy clients, and a partnership with Brussels-based Igneos strengthens European client support.
1999 - 2005
Strategy Development & Sector Growth
Following Arch Chemical’s acquisition of Olin Specialty Chemicals, Denneen helps develop a growth strategy that sparks the firm’s Enterprise Growth Strategy offering.
Jane Alpers joins, later guiding healthcare growth. The firm moves to 222 Berkeley Street and adds new clients in biotech (Millennium Pharmaceuticals) and healthcare provider systems (Partners Healthcare, now Mass General Brigham Healthcare).
1995 - 1998
Leadership and Sector Expansion
Frank Endom joins, later leading Private Equity and Energy practices. Albert Lee begins his contributions across analytics and finance. Denneen enters the energy sector with Mobil Oil in 1998, establishing a relationship that continues today with ExxonMobil following the merger in 2000.
